AEG Washer Dryer Repairs
Both functions covered — washing and drying.
AEG washer dryers combine washing machine performance with a built-in drying function — a practical choice where space is limited. Part of the Electrolux Group alongside Zanussi and Electrolux, with excellent parts availability across the group. Both the washing and drying functions are worth repairing when something goes wrong.
At Bath Washco we repair both sides of the machine — washing faults and drying faults. We've been servicing AEG washer dryers across Bath, Wiltshire and Somerset for over 30 years, and we carry parts for both functions in the van as standard.

Common AEG Washer Dryer Faults
Washer dryer faults can affect the washing side, the drying side, or both. We diagnose and repair both functions — here's what we see most often on AEG machines.
Washing side
Not Draining
Blocked pump filter, failed drain pump, or blocked drain hose. Check and clean the filter first — it's accessible without an engineer. EF1 specifically indicates a blocked drain filter.
Clean filter first — may save a call-out
Door Lock Fault
Door interlock fault — machine won't start or stops mid-cycle with the door locked. E40/E41 indicate door open or closure issues, E42/E43 indicate interlock or triac faults. Common wear item across the group.
Interlocks carried as standard
Motor Brush Wear
Common on older models with brush motors — machine struggles to spin or stops altogether, often with no error code. Newer inverter motor models don't have this issue. Brushes are inexpensive and straightforward to replace.
Brushes carried as standard
Heating Element Fault
Element failure doesn't always throw a code — machine runs normally but water isn't heating, leaving clothes not properly cleaned. E68 indicates current leakage to earth, E69 a broken element. Elements are a common replacement across the group.

Drying side
Condenser Temperature Sensor
A common and characteristic AEG washer dryer fault. The NTC temperature sensor on the condenser fails — the drying heating phase is skipped and clothes come out damp. Needs diagnosis to confirm before parts are ordered.

Drying Duct NTC Sensor
The NTC sensor probe on the drying duct fails — similar symptoms to E72, with the drying phase being skipped or cutting out early. Another characteristic AEG washer dryer fault. We see both E72 and E73 regularly on these machines.

Noisy Fan Assembly
Noisy or rattling fan assembly during the drying cycle — a common fault on AEG washer dryers. Usually worn fan bearings or a damaged fan blade. Can also cause reduced airflow and poor drying performance if left. Engineer job to access and replace.

PCB / Board Errors
Communication or control board faults on the drying circuit — can cause intermittent drying issues, unexpected programme stops, or the drying function failing entirely. Needs full diagnosis to identify whether it's the board itself or a sensor fault triggering the error.

About the Brand Group
AEG, Zanussi & Electrolux — One Group, Shared Expertise
All three brands are part of the Electrolux Group — shared parts platform and similar fault profiles across both the washing and drying functions.
AEG
Mid to premium positioning — more features than Zanussi, same core Electrolux platform. E72 and E73 drying sensor faults are characteristic of AEG washer dryers specifically. Both washing and drying parts well stocked. Generally worth repairing.

Zanussi
Entry level spec on the same Electrolux platform — simpler controls and fewer features but the same core components underneath. Broadly the same fault profile across both functions. Parts cross over well across the group.

Electrolux
Almost exclusively integrated and built-in. Same group platform, same fault profile across washing and drying functions. Higher replacement cost makes repair particularly worthwhile. Integrated machines should be handled with care — feet are fragile.
Electrolux washer dryer repair
John Lewis
John Lewis own-brand washer dryers are often rebadged AEG or Electrolux machines — meaning Electrolux Group parts can cross over. Worth checking before assuming your John Lewis appliance is unrepairable or parts unavailable. Give us a call and we'll help identify the machine.
