A musty, damp, or drain-like smell coming from your washing machine is one of the most common complaints we hear. The smell often transfers to freshly washed clothes, which defeats the whole point of washing them. The good news is that in most cases it’s preventable, and with the right routine you can clear it and keep it away.
Black mould on the rubber door seal is one of the most common problems we see on front-loading washing machines. It builds up in the folds of the seal, causes a musty smell, and can transfer onto your clothes. Once it’s established, it’s notoriously difficult to remove.

The Hoover E09 error code on washing machines indicates a motor or motor brushes fault. This means the machine can’t detect the drum rotating properly, or the motor isn’t spinning the drum at the correct speed. The machine may refuse to start the cycle, or it stops mid-cycle displaying E09.
The Hisense F17 error code on washer dryer machines indicates a heating fault during the drying cycle. The machine washes normally but when it tries to dry, either the dryer won’t heat at all, or the overheat thermostat trips before clothes are dry.
F43 and E21 typically appear during the wash or spin cycle when the motor should be running. The machine may attempt to start several times before displaying the error and stopping completely.
