AEG Washer Dryer E73 Error – What It Means

AEG washer dryer showing E73 error, washing but not drying

AEG Washer Dryer Showing E73?

Washes fine but won’t dry? Here’s what it means

What the E73 Error Means

If your AEG washer dryer washes perfectly but the drying cycle stops with the clothes still damp – and you’ve spotted an E73 code – it’s usually down to the drying sensor. This is the part that tells the machine how hot the drying air is, so the machine knows when to run the heater. When it can’t get a proper reading, it stops the drying cycle to stay safe and throws the E73.

That’s why the tell-tale sign is so consistent: the wash cycle runs perfectly, but drying starts and then stops after a few minutes with the load still wet. The washing side doesn’t use that sensor, so it carries on as normal – it’s only the dryer that’s affected.

It’s not a fault you can read much into from the outside, and it’s not a DIY fix – it needs testing properly to know whether it’s the sensor itself or the wiring behind it. That’s where we come in.

How We Fix an E73 Fault

When we come out to an AEG washer dryer throwing E73, we test before we touch a single part.

We test before we replace

We check whether it’s the drying sensor or the wiring behind it before doing anything – so you’re only ever paying for the part that’s actually failed, not a guess.

If It’s Not Worth Repairing

Sometimes the sums don’t add up – the fault’s expensive to reach, the machine’s had its day, and a repair isn’t the sensible spend. We’ll always give you an honest assessment. If a new machine is the better call, we supply and fit new washing machines, washer dryers, and tumble dryers with free local delivery across Bath and Wiltshire – and if we’ve been out to assess it, we’ll deduct 50% of the service visit fee from the cost of a replacement bought through us.

Either way, you get a straight answer from someone who repairs these machines every day. See our repair services or browse new washer dryers.
