Hotpoint Dishwasher Repairs

A common machine — and one we know inside out.

Hotpoint dishwashers are among the most widely sold in the UK — found in homes across Bath and the surrounding area. Parts are well stocked, most faults are straightforward to diagnose and repair, and in most cases a Hotpoint dishwasher is worth fixing. We cover both freestanding and integrated models.

At Bath Washco we've been repairing Hotpoint dishwashers across Bath, Wiltshire and Somerset for over 30 years. We carry parts as standard and most repairs are completed in a single visit.

One thing worth knowing: some Hotpoint dishwashers use flashing LED combinations rather than alphanumeric error codes to indicate faults. If your machine is flashing and you're not sure what it means, Hotpoint's own LED error code tool can help identify the fault — or just give us a call.

Hotpoint Dishwasher Faults Section

From 30 Years of Hotpoint & Indesit Repairs

Common Hotpoint Dishwasher Faults & Error Codes

These are the faults we see most often on Hotpoint and Indesit dishwashers — from genuine day-to-day experience over 30 years.

F01

Flood Protection Activated

Water detected in the base tray — flood protection has triggered and the machine won't run. Can be a genuine leak from a door seal, hose or pump, or a faulty sensor. Needs proper diagnosis to identify the cause before parts are ordered.

Parts carried as standard

F10

Heating Fault

Heating element failure — dishes not drying or water not getting hot. Common in hard water areas where limescale damages the element over time. Keeping salt topped up helps protect the element. Elements carried as standard.

Sensor

Flow Sensor Fault

Machine not filling correctly or stopping mid-cycle due to a water flow fault. Can be a faulty flow sensor, blocked inlet filter, or inlet valve fault. Needs diagnosis to identify the specific cause.

Diagnosis required first

Mechanical

Drain Pump Fault

Machine not draining or draining slowly — usually a blocked filter, failed drain pump, or blocked drain hose. Check and clean the filter first as it's accessible without an engineer. A blocked drain can also contribute to water in the base tray, triggering F01.

Clean filter first — may save a call-out

Electrical

Broken Door Wiring

The wiring loom that runs through the door hinge flexes every time the door is opened and closed, and eventually breaks. A common fault across many dishwasher brands — and one we see regularly on Hotpoint. Symptoms vary from unresponsive controls to no motor action or intermittent tripping. Often misdiagnosed as a board fault. One to check early in the diagnosis.

LED Flash Codes

Older Hotpoint dishwashers without a display use flashing LED combinations rather than alphanumeric codes to indicate faults. The combination of LEDs flashing tells you which fault has triggered. Hotpoint's LED error code tool can help identify yours — or give us a call and we'll talk you through it.

Hard water area tip: Bath and the surrounding area has hard water. Keeping dishwasher salt topped up protects the heating element from limescale damage and extends the life of the machine significantly.

Which? Trusted Trader — 10 Years
In most cases yes — Hotpoint dishwashers are widely used, parts are well stocked, and most common faults are cost-effective to repair. We carry parts for the most common faults in the van as standard and most repairs are completed in a single visit.
F01 indicates flood protection has triggered — water has been detected in the base tray and the machine has stopped as a safety measure. It can be caused by a door seal leak, a hose fault, drain pump issues allowing water to build up, or a faulty sensor. Needs proper diagnosis to identify the cause.
F10 indicates a heating fault — the heating element has failed or there's a fault on the heating circuit. Dishes won't dry properly and water won't reach the correct temperature. Common in hard water areas where limescale damages the element. We carry elements as standard and can usually fix this in a single visit.
Older Hotpoint dishwashers without a display use flashing LED combinations to indicate faults rather than alphanumeric codes. The pattern of LEDs flashing tells you which fault has triggered. Hotpoint's own LED error code tool can help identify yours — or give us a call on 01225 429127 and we'll talk you through it.
Intermittent or unresponsive behaviour is often caused by broken door wiring — the wiring loom that runs through the door hinge flexes every time the door is opened and eventually breaks. Symptoms can range from unresponsive controls to no motor action or tripping. It's a common fault across many dishwasher brands and one we check early in the diagnosis, as it can be mistaken for a board fault.
